Advanced Skills – Ladders E, F, and G

The Advanced Skills Band develops progressively more abstract, interconnected, analytical, and application-oriented mathematical competencies. Learners extend their understanding of rational numbers and proportional relationships toward algebraic reasoning, functions, formal geometry, statistics, probability, financial mathematics, and mathematical modeling.

Across Ladders E, F, and G, learners increasingly translate among verbal, numerical, symbolic, tabular, graphical, and geometric representations; identify and generalize mathematical relationships; solve increasingly complex and multistep problems; analyze data and mathematical models; and justify conclusions using appropriate evidence. The progression culminates in learners’ ability to formulate mathematical representations of real-life situations, evaluate assumptions and limitations, interpret results in context, and communicate evidence-based conclusions and recommendations. In the NLL Program, advanced does not necessarily mean learning beyond the prescribed curriculum; rather, it refers to mathematical competencies that require greater abstraction, integration, reasoning, analysis, and application.
